This week’s WWE Raw featured an intense segment between GUNTHER and Finn Balor, setting up their highly anticipated WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
GUNTHER Calls Out Finn Balor
WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER called out Finn Balor for interfering in his business:
“Finn Balor has made a grave mistake… And I guarantee you, right now, that Saturday Night’s Main Event will not end up like Survivor Series for me.”
The Ring General rejected the claims of Balor, that Balor was responsible for his success as champion, criticizing Balor’s alliances and strategies over the years. He also highlighted the lack of respect he now has for the former Universal Champion Finn Balor:
“You were the best in the world, for one night. I am the best in the world right now and for thousands of days to come. This title proves it.”
Finn Balor Hits Back at GUNTHER
Balor fired back, reminding GUNTHER and the WWE Universe of his own legacy:
“At Saturday Night’s Main Event, you lose the title because of me. And after eight long years, Finn Balor walks out… the brand-new World Heavyweight Champion.”
Finn Balor defended his claim to the championship match, pointing out his crucial role in GUNTHER’s Survivor Series victory and vowing to dethrone him.
GUNTHER, Finn Balor and Damian Priest Chaos
The verbal war erupted into a physical fight as GUNTHER and Damian Priest brawled with Judgment Day. GUNTHER his Priest with a thunderous clothesline and nearly delivering a Powerbomb through the announce table. However, Finn Balor launched a vicious assault on GUNTHER and Priest.
Balor delivered a SlingBlade on GUNTHER, followed by a Coupe de Grace off the ring apron. Then, hits Priest with multiple Coupe de Graces and Balor stood tall posing with the World Heavyweight Championship to close the segment.
After this segment, Adam Pearce and The Judgment Day had a backstage segment. Adam Pearce announced that at Saturday Night’s Main Event, it will be GUNTHER vs. Finn Balor vs. Damian Priest for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
